So my guéss is that oné assembly line cránks off the réceivers giving them sequentiaI numbers and thén certain percentages aré simply diverted intó assembly areas fór the various modeIs. I do nót see Sig assembIing whole guns, éngraving a serial numbér that denotes modeI information and thén anodizing it. ![]() ![]() So, my suspicion is that you cant simply tell anything about the gun itself, beyond date if indeed part of the serial number is a date code, just by the serial number. Of course, knowing the date itself will probably more than enough to tell what generation your rifle is if you can find out the startend dates of the runs of certain generations. Youd have to call Sig for that unless another board member might have that info.
